New Challenges in Scheduling Theory

October 21 - 27, 2012 --- Centre CNRS "La Villa Clythia", Frejus, France

Following a successful series of nine seminars on scheduling computer and manufacturing processes, we would like to invite you to attend the 10th seminar which will be held at the CNRS Center in Frejus during 21-27.10.2012

CALL FOR PAPERS

We will once again be putting together a special issue of papers from attendees of the Frejus conference on "New Challenges in Scheduling Theory". For this meeting, it will be the

RAIRO-Operations Research.

You should prepare your manuscript according to the journal's instructions. You can download a pdf with instructions.

Contributions to this journal do not have to be on the precise subject you spoke about at this meeting. In fact, you can contribute even if you did not speak at the meeting. You may include co-authors who were not at the meeting.

All contributions are due December 31, 2012. Submit your article directly to Erwin Pesch.

Objective

The main objective of this workshop is to create a thriving atmosphere to exchange new ideas and debating on new challenges in scheduling. Each participant is encouraged to present her-his work (in a 20 mns talk, with a single track) and will have the opportunity to discuss informally with interested people.

Content

The central thema of the workshop deals with all aspects of scheduling, from theory to implementation. A particular focus will be put on the following topics (but not restricted to): approximation algorithms, complexity, distributed scheduling, new scheduling models (work stealing, parallel tasks, divisible load), multi-objective optimization, meta-heuristics, scheduling communications, incertainties, links of scheduling with related topics (graph theory, game theory, packing), applications of scheduling, etc..

Organization

During the seminar, the participants will exchange new ideas and results and discuss new developments in the area of scheduling. We expect about 80 participants, gathering young researchers and well-known (active) researchers in the field. As for the previous editions, if enough people are interested, we will propose to the participants to submit their contributions to a special issue of a high-quality international journal (to be fixed later).
